<description>Performance Evaluation of Cement Industry of Bangladesh: A Case Study on Some Selected Firms
Molla, Md. Al-Amin; Akram, Abdur Rahman; Rahman, Tania
Financial analysis is a logical way of inspecting the financial position of a company. It&#13;
helps to measure ond realize lhe position of the company. It tries to cooperate the&#13;
creditors, investors, and managers to determine the profitability of the company, to&#13;
control costs, and to pay the interest and principal on its debt. Besides these, it gives the&#13;
opportunity to lmow the liquidity of the company. For measuring the financial health of&#13;
a business firm, there are lots of techniques available. But the Altman's Z-score has&#13;
been proven to be a reliable tool across contexts. Bangladesh cement industry is a&#13;
unique one because, the industry is producing a higher amount of cement than the local&#13;
demand having no supply of local raw materials. The main objective of the study is to&#13;
assess the fundamental financial health of this industry using Z-score model. Here,&#13;
listed cement firms are considered in this study. The required information has been&#13;
collectedfrom the annual reports ofthe selected companies andfrom other sources. The&#13;
study revealed that four firms, Aman Cement, Crown Cement, Cemex Cement and Shah&#13;
Cement are financially sound. The findings of the study can be useful for the managers&#13;
to take financial decision, the stockholders to choose investment options and others to&#13;
look after their interest in the concern cement manufacturers of the country.

<title>Augmentation of Heat Transfer in a Circular Pipe by Means of Twisted Vane Inserts</title>

<description>Augmentation of Heat Transfer in a Circular Pipe by Means of Twisted Vane Inserts
Hoque, Md. Shafkat Bin; Siddique, Hossain; Ali, Mohammad
Heat transfer characteristics for swirl /low of water in a circular pipe are studied&#13;
numerically. The pipe is fitted with heat resistant vanes. The performance of this pipe&#13;
is compared with that of an empty pipe under similar conditions. The three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible Newtonian Jluid Jlow are&#13;
used. This investigation reveals that the swirl Jlow increases heat transfer. The fficts&#13;
ofvarious parameters such as Reynolds number, inlet pressure, twisting angle, surface&#13;
heat flux, surface temperature, pipe length etc. are also studied.

<title>Study of Hybrid Photovoltaic Solar Thermal Systems During Summer Months in Bangladesh</title>
<link>http://suspace.su.edu.bd/handle/123456789/64</link>
<description>Study of Hybrid Photovoltaic Solar Thermal Systems During Summer Months in Bangladesh
Miah, Sohel; Akhanda, M.A.R.
A hybrid photovoltaic (PW) solar system combines simultaneous canversion of the&#13;
absorbed solar radiation into electricity and heat. In this study the design of an&#13;
experimental PWdual systern, both air and water circulation with modifications in the&#13;
air channel is presented. A thin metallic sheet (TMS) inside the air channel and painted&#13;
black ribbed surfaces at the bottom of the air channel are placed. For obsertting the&#13;
variations of heat transmittance with change of the shape of the ribs four experimental&#13;
setups with a Trapezoidal, a Saw tooth forward, a Saw tooth baclauard ribbed surfaces&#13;
and a flat plate have been used, Natural convection is applied instead of forced&#13;
convection to increase the system net electrical output &amp; thereby the overall system&#13;
fficiency. All setups are of the same capacity, projected area and water heat extraction&#13;
method and average depth. Performance study is carried out during the months of March&#13;
to June, 2012 at I(JT campus, Gazipur, Bangladesh. Significant performance has been&#13;
obtained with the above stated modifications. Natural convection is allowed to take place&#13;
instead of fluid conyection. Results obtained in this study have been compared with&#13;
available information in the literature.

<title>Study on the Spirality and Shrinkage of Weft Knitted Fabric: An Impact of Tumble Drying and Line drying</title>
<link>http://suspace.su.edu.bd/handle/123456789/63</link>
<description>Study on the Spirality and Shrinkage of Weft Knitted Fabric: An Impact of Tumble Drying and Line drying
Rahman, Habibur; Karim, Rezaul; Mitra, Bidhan Kumar
Spirality and shrinkage are the most common problems for knitted fabric due to their&#13;
asymmetrical loop formatton. Spirality is a dimensional distortion in circular knitted&#13;
fabrics and has an obvious influence on the aesthetic and functional performance.&#13;
Shrinkage is the process in which a fabric becomes smaller than its original size while&#13;
washing and drying. This study explicitly determined the theoretically approach of the&#13;
causes and remedies of spirality and shrinkage and the main dffirence between tumble&#13;
and line drying. The tumble drying was more responsible for shrinkage contrary to the&#13;
line drying. Among the samples the full feeder lycra single jersey shows the best result&#13;
in shrinkage and spirality and double pique shows the worst result due lo more tuck&#13;
loop in its structure. Finally, this study illustrated that line drying was the best for using&#13;
the garments with assured quality and dimensional stability.
