The was conducted in the Department of Civil Engineering at Sonargaon University Bangladesh with the objectives to prepare a project and thesis with a view to partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering. Every year tons of brick dust (surki) is being exposed in the environment and therefore being wasted in our country. But this brick dust may be used as fine aggregate for making concrete. Therefore an attempt has been made in this study to get the idea about the compressive strength of the concrete where different mixing ratios of surki and local sand is used as fine aggregate. In our study five different mixing ratios (i.e. 100-0%,75-25%, 25-75% & 0-100%) were considered. Experiments have been conducted using 24 cylinders (4''×8") and were tested for 3 days, 7 days & 28 days. Portland composite cement (PCC) was used in our study. Results found from our test results indicate that the compressive strength of the concrete increases with the increase of percentage mixing ratios of surki. For 100% surki. Using as fine aggregate shows the maximum strength gain of concrete over 28 days period.en_US
