Textile being the largest industrial sector in Bangladesh, face the problem of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) sludge and disposal. In this study our attempt to see the generation of textile sludge of the textile ETP. Removal and disposal of the sludge ensures that it will not adversely impact the environment. In this motivation, at first we listed most of the textile industries that have ETP around Dhaka, Bangladesh. The locations of the industries led us to obtain a list of 12 industries near Dhaka. Then we visited four textile industry ETP’s which are Padma polycotton limited, Echotex limited, Galaxy sweaters & yarn dyeing Ltd. Under Annotex Group and Fakir Knitwear Ltd. We observed different treatment phases of ETP sludge and identified the source of sludge production. We collected sludge generation and characterization. We prepare a questionnaire and open-ended discussions with concerned authority of those textile factories. We come to know about sludge management from their interview/ oral discussion and also on the basis of accumulate data. Our team identified different ways to manage the sludge produced of the textile industryen_US
