The Earthquake Detection and Alert System (EDAS) proposed in this project aims to provide
a robust and efficient solution for early earthquake detection and timely dissemination of
alerts. With the increasing frequency of seismic events globally and their potential
catastrophic consequences, there's a critical need for advanced systems capable of detecting
earthquakes swiftly and alerting populations to take necessary safety measures. The EDAS
leverages a network of seismic sensors strategically positioned in earthquake-prone regions.
These sensors continuously monitor ground movements and detect seismic waves generated
by earthquakes. Upon detecting anomalous seismic activity, the system employs
sophisticated algorithms for event detection and localization, accurately determining the
epicenter and magnitude of the earthquake. Once an earthquake is detected, the system
initiates alert procedures through various communication channels, including mobile
applications, SMS, sirens, and other public announcement systems. These alerts are
disseminated rapidly to inform residents, emergency responders, and relevant authorities
about the impending threat, allowing them to take proactive measures to mitigate risks and
minimize damage.
