    Abstract
The escalating demand for concrete in construction has led to an increased depletion of natural resources which is raising environmental concerns. Moreover, now a days frequently conflagrations are being observed. Considering these two phenomena this thesis investigates the potential of iron slag, a byproduct of steel production, as a partial replacement of fine aggregate in concrete. The study examines the mechanical properties and different high temperature resistance of concrete incorporating varying proportions of iron slag. This study evaluates the mechanical strength of concrete in which fine aggregate is partially replaced (0%, 5%, 15%, 25%) by iron slag after being exposed to 0, 100, 150 & 200 °C for 0, 60,120 & 180 minutes. This thesis delves into the following key aspects: Mechanical properties: The impact of iron slag replacement on the compressive strength is evaluated. High-temperature resistance: The performance of concrete containing iron slag under gradually increased high temperatures is evaluated. Therefore, it is expected that the iron slag has merits to be used in conjunction with sand as fine aggregate in producing concrete
