dc.description.abstract | The topic of this report was “Performance Appraisal System of Shore to Shore Bangladesh Limited”. This report is originated as a partial requirement of MBA program, Department of Business Administration, Sonargaon University. Shore to Shore Bangladesh Limited started its operation in Bangladesh in 2001, has now grown to become the nation’s one of the leading brand packaging companies. Shore to Shore Bangladesh Limited manufactures a range of variety products including labels, hangtags, security tag, hit transfer labels, printed fabric labels and many more to support the global buyers for merchandise identification. The scope of the report is limited to the discussion of the present performance appraisal system of Shore to Shore Bangladesh Limited. To prepare the report both primary and secondary sources of data have been used. Primary data were collected in the month of October, 2021. To collect primary data, interviews were conducted with HR manager, all the head of departments and a good number of employees of different level in the organization. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data. To collect secondary data, efforts have been made to go through official documents, company profile, company policy, textbooks, different websites, newspaper clippings etc. In STS, the performance standards are set in the July of a year. The rule about the review of the progress of the employees’ performance is also specified in STS’ performance appraisal policy. In STS review interview is basically dependent on the right time and opportunity from the manger’s side. The manager and the employee can review progress on agreed objectives formally on task basis where they have sat KPI & KRA. STS conduct performance appraisal of the employees once a year, just as majority companies do in Bangladesh. STS performances of the employees are done at the end of the financial year, usually in June or July. STS record kipping system regarding the employees’ performance is paper based; STS have to maintain a lot of different types of paper to keep track of the employee’s performance. Very recently the company has implemented the software based record kipping system but the system is still under observation. STS use Checklist method to appraise their employee’s performance. Important information about the performance of the employees is collected from specific critical incidents. STS should use a specific month in the beginning of the year for objective setting, a specific month in the middle of the year for performance appraisal review, a special month at the begging of the year for performance appraisal interview. They should set up specific rules in their performance appraisal policy in these regards to make the performance appraisal process more disciplined and systematic. | en_US |
