dc.description.abstract | This thesis presents a comprehensive framework for “Optimization of The Cement
Manufacturing Process in Bangladesh” addressing inefficiencies and proposing strategic
improvements through lean manufacturing, automation and sustainable practices. The
focus is on enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impacts
within the rapidly growing cement industry, which has expanded significantly over the last
two decades due to urbanization and infrastructure development.
The analysis shows that the industry is predominantly controlled by ten major players,
including multinational corporations, which collectively hold approximately 75% of the
market share. Additionally, significant attention is given to optimizing production
processes, highlighting the importance of automation, energy efficiency, alternative fuels,
waste heat recovery, and enhancements in the supply chain. The results suggest that
aligning the cement sector with national development goals, particularly in power
generation and infrastructure projects, is crucial for its sustainability.
By addressing existing challenges through foresight and collaborative efforts, this study
concludes that Bangladesh's cement industry has the potential not only to thrive but also to
contribute substantially to the nation's economic prosperity. The findings provide valuable
insights into market shares of leading companies, investment activities, regional
consumption patterns, and the social and environmental impacts associated with the sector. | en_US |
