    Abstract
Green building offers a sustainable solution to environmental degradation caused by rapid urbanization and energy-intensive construction practices. Despite increasing climate vulnerability in Bangladesh, the adoption of green building principles remains limited. This study investigates the level of public awareness, identifies potential opportunities, and analyzes the key challenges associated with implementing green buildings in the country. A mixed-method research design was employed, incorporating literature review, structured surveys, and semi-structured interviews. Data were collected from 418 respondents and were analyzed using SPSS software to derive both descriptive and inferential insights. Findings reveal that while general awareness of green building concepts is growing, substantial knowledge gaps remain, particularly among non professionals. The study identifies promising opportunities such as growing public interest, government policy drafts, and the availability of sustainable materials. However, challenges including high initial costs, lack of technical expertise, and weak enforcement of regulations continue to hinder implementation. The study recommends increased stakeholder collaboration, targeted awareness campaigns, and policy reforms to support a smoother transition toward sustainable building practices. These findings contribute to the national discourse on green innovation and provide practical insights for architects, engineers, urban planners, and policymakers in Bangladesh.
