Design And Performance Analysis Of Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger
Abstract
This project focuses on the design and performance analysis of a shell and tube heat
exchanger, a critical component widely used in industrial applications for heat transfer
between two fluids. The primary objective of this study is to develop an efficient design
that meets thermal performance requirements while optimizing parameters like heat
transfer area, pressure drop, and material selection. A comprehensive methodology is
used, including thermal design calculations, flow arrangement analysis, and pressure
drop evaluation, to ensure the system operates efficiently under various conditions. The
project also incorporates cost analysis to assess the economic feasibility of the proposed
design. Results from the simulations and theoretical calculations are compared with
industry standards, demonstrating the effectiveness of the design. The findings
highlight the importance of optimizing heat exchanger configurations for maximizing
performance and minimizing energy consumption. Future work is suggested to improve
design accuracy and explore advanced materials for enhanced performance.
