Modeling and Manufacturing of Automated Wire Meshing Machine
Abstract
The growing demand for efficient and precise manufacturing processes in the
construction and fabrication industries has highlighted the need for automation in
wire mesh production. This project presents the design, modeling, and
manufacturing of an Automated Wire Meshing Machine aimed at improving
productivity, accuracy, and safety compared to traditional manual methods. The
machine is designed to automate key operations such as wire feeding, straightening,
cutting, and welding to form mesh structures of predefined dimensions. CAD tools
were utilized for detailed mechanical modeling, followed by fabrication using
standard machining and assembly techniques. Control of the machine is managed
via a microcontroller-based system that coordinates motor functions and sensor
feedback for synchronization and error reduction. The automated solution
significantly reduces labor requirements and operational time while ensuring
uniform mesh quality. The prototype was tested under various operating conditions,
and performance metrics such as mesh uniformity, cycle time, and operational
reliability were evaluated. The results validate the effectiveness of the proposed
machine as a low-cost, scalable solution for industrial and small-scale wire mesh
production.
