The GSM-based Prepaid Energy Meter using Arduino is an innovative solution designed to automate electricity billing and prevent power theft. Traditional energy meters lack transparency and are prone to human error and electricity pilferage. This project replaces conventional systems with a smart prepaid model, where users recharge energy credits in advance. The Arduino microcontroller monitors real-time energy consumption, automatically deducts used units, and communicates balance updates through a GSM module. When the balance is low or exhausted, the system sends SMS alerts and can disconnect power supply if necessary. Additionally, it incorporates a power theft detection mechanism that identifies unauthorized connections and instantly alerts the utility provider. This system not only ensures accurate and timely billing but also encourages users to conserve energy. By integrating prepaid metering, GSM communication, and theft alerts, the project supports efficient energy management and enhances the security and reliability of power distribution systemsen_US
