The protection and observance of basic human rights ensures the peace and security of the world community. In other words, Observance of basic human rights is the corner-stone of world‟s peace and security. It is apparently clear from the world‟s situation that rapid social changes are giving rise to greater criminal activities which must be overcome by law and proper administration of justice. An effective administration of justice requires just, equal and fair trial. It has been accepted now that the right to a fair trial is one of the basic human rights. This right is enjoyed by both the parties of a case. This study only deals with „the right to a fair trial of an accused person‟. The protection of the right to a fair trial of an accused person against the coercive powers of the state is a part of the human rights propaganda across major legal and political boundaries. However, this study seeks to correlate internationally and nationally protected human rights of the accused, which are applicable in criminal process during trial. Human rights and constitutional guarantees of the accused in Bangladesh during pretrial, trial and post trial stages are set forth in details in this study and a comparison is made with the provisions of several international human rights instruments, basically with the provisions.en_US
