    Abstract
Domestic Violence has been a common practice throughout the recorded history. Corresponding to the other parts of the world, domestic violence has been one of the major problems that affect both in the urban and the rural areas of Bangladesh. Now-a-day Bangladesh ranks one of the highest in the world with respect to violence. Domestic violence often takes place in form of physical aggression or threats, sexual and emotional abuse, stalking, passive/covert abuse, and economic deprivations. 1 There are many studies for searching the reason behind Domestic Violence in Bangladesh. This paper focuses on the root causes and legal remedies behind the domestic violence. These variables work together to conceptualize domestic violence. In this study, all the relevant factors and aspects of domestic violence have been analyzed and put in context to Bangladesh. Although it is believed that women are always victims of domestic violence, this field has now expanded. Apart from women, men, children and parents are also subjected to torture. There is no separate law for men nationally or internationally. But the rate of male violence is gradually increasing. This situation is now alarming. Male do not take legal action for fear of loss of social status. If a women is abused, even if everyone sympathizes, men are laughed at, so the law has no effect. Despite the existence of laws, domestic violence has become malign because the laws are poorly drafted and poor enforcement. Through fruitful research this problem can be solved.
