dc.description.abstractBanking sector in Bangladesh thus comprises of Central bank, and nationalized banks for both specialized financial and commercial sector, joint venture private banks, Bangladeshi private banks and foreign banks. The objectives of the study are to know the foreign trade operations of a bank, to evaluate the performance of foreign exchange division, to estimate the cost of export, import and remittance. The scope is limited to different investment schemes, modes, mechanism, investment proposal appraisal procedures, monitoring and documentation of commercial banks, foreign exchange operations. Limitation in gaining accesses to financial sector, bank software & confidential documents. To perform the study, the data sources were to be identified and collected, to be classified, analyzed, interpreted and presented in a systematic manner. IFIC Established in 1976 as an Investment & Finance Company under arrangement of joint venture with Government of Bangladesh. Mercantile Bank Limited has been incorporated on May 20, 1999 in Dhaka, Bangladesh as a limited company with the permission of the Bangladesh Bank.
