    Abstract
The Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector in Bangladesh has emerged as a cornerstone of the nation's economy, serving as a catalyst for economic development and employment generation. This thesis examines the transformative journey of the RMG sector, delving into its historical evolution, current challenges, and future prospects. Drawing upon a comprehensive review of existing literature and empirical data, this study investigates the key factors contributing to the remarkable growth of the RMG industry in Bangladesh. It explores the role of globalization, trade policies, technological advancements, and labor dynamics in shaping the sector's trajectory. Furthermore, this thesis critically evaluates the sustainability implications of the RMG industry, considering environmental, social, and economic dimensions. It analyzes the environmental footprint of garment manufacturing processes, the working conditions of garment workers, and the industry's contribution to national GDP and employment. Moreover, this research identifies the major challenges confronting the RMG sector, including compliance issues, supply chain transparency, labor rights violations, and market volatility. It proposes strategic interventions and policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the sector's sustainability and resilience. In conclusion, this thesis argues that while the RMG sector in Bangladesh has achieved significant milestones, there is an urgent need for a paradigm shift towards a more sustainable and ethical model of production. By adopting innovative technologies, promoting responsible business practices, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the RMG industry can realize its full potential as a driver of inclusive growth and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
