Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC), established in 1983, stands as a pioneering Islamic bank in Southeast Asia. Renowned for its extensive network of over 374 branches across the country and listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, IBBPLC's impressive authorized capital of 20,000 million BDT signifies its robust financial standing. This report delves into the intricate realm of IBBPLC's investment management process, unravelling its unique strategies and approaches. Furthermore, it scrutinizes the bank's training and development practices, highlighting methodologies employed at its renowned training institute, IBTRA. IBBPLC differentiates itself from conventional banks through its adherence to Sharia-compliant principles. This necessitates meticulous training initiatives at IBTRA, equipping employees with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate the intricacies of Islamic banking. Trainees undergo a comprehensive 15-day program at IBTRA, followed by 45 days of hands-on learning within branch operations. Beyond theoretical frameworks, IBBPLC emphasizes instilling behavioural competencies crucial for effective performance. This ensures employees not only understand the technical aspects of Islamic banking but also embody the values and ethical conduct expected of this financial system. However, some findings suggest areas for improvement within IBBPLC's training program. Notably, the practice of accommodating large trainee groups (150-200 individuals) in single rooms hinders personalized learning. Additionally, the lack of readily available computers and equipment limits the potential for technology-aided training modules. Therefore, recommendations include allocating additional training rooms to facilitate smaller group sessions and providing trainees with necessary equipment like computers and internet access. These enhancements would bolster the overall training experience and ensure that IBBPLC continues to nurture a well-equipped workforce capable of driving its future success.en_US
