Implementation of Information Systems in Blood Service Management: A Case Study of Bloodman

Abstract

This report documents my internship experience at Bloodman, Bangladesh’s pioneering digital blood donor-matchmaking platform under the ICT Division’s iDEA Project. The focus is on how information systems have been implemented to improve donor coordination, hospital integration, and emergency blood management. The report examines Bloodman’s technological framework, workflow, and data management systems, highlighting both operational strengths and existing challenges. It further explores how automation, cloud computing, and analytics enhance efficiency while maintaining data security and user privacy. My role as an intern in the Information Systems & Operations Department allowed me to observe the entire process of donor verification, system updates, and performance reporting. The findings suggest that digital systems have reduced response time by nearly 40 percent and improved nationwide communication between hospitals and volunteers. The narrative provides a detailed understanding of how technology and social responsibility combine to build a sustainable model for healthcare innovation in Bangladesh. This report concludes not as an ending, but as a milestone within a continuous journey of learning, service, and digital empowerment. My internship at Bloodman has shown that the heart of information systems lies not only in algorithms or interfaces but in their ability to connect human lives through trust and compassion. The experience has reshaped my perspective on management education, showing that the application of academic principles can generate measurable social change.
