City Bank Limited's Human Resource Management Practices
Abstract
This report is based on the Human Resource Management (HRM) practices of City Bank Limited. A
bank is a financial institution that plays a vital role in the economic development of a country by
providing various financial services such as accepting deposits, granting loans, and offering other
related services. The banking sector in Bangladesh is broadly classified into four categories: State
Owned Commercial Banks (SCBs), State-Owned Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), Private
Commercial Banks (PCBs), and Foreign Commercial Banks (FCBs).
An internship program is a mandatory requirement for completing the Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) degree. Classroom learning alone is not sufficient to understand real business
situations; therefore, the internship program provides students with the opportunity to gain practical
knowledge through real-life organizational experience. As part of this requirement, I have completed
my internship at City Bank Limited and prepared this report titled “Human Resource Management
Practices of City Bank Limited.”
The main objective of this report is to analyze the HRM practices of City Bank Limited, including
recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation system,
and employee relations. During my internship period, I have collected relevant information and data
directly from the organization to understand its human resource activities and policies.
City Bank Limited is one of the leading private commercial banks in Bangladesh. It is a 3rd
generation bank and plays a significant role in the banking industry of the country. The bank offers a
wide range of financial products and services and has established a strong presence across the nation
through its branches and services.
This internship report is prepared based on practical experience and observation gathered during the
internship period. The report is divided into several chapters. The first chapter includes the
introduction, background of the study, objectives, scope, limitations, and methodology. The second
chapter provides an overview of City Bank Limited, including its history, vision, mission, and
services. The third chapter covers internship responsibilities. The fourth chapter focuses on the
analysis of HRM practices. The fifth chapter includes findings and analysis, and the final chapter
contains recommendations and conclusions. Relevant appendices have also been included at the end
of the report for better understanding.
