dc.description.abstract | The word "turbofan" is a portmanteau of "turbine" and "fan": the turbo portion refers to a
gas turbine engine which achieves mechanical energy from combustion, and the fan,
a ducted fan that uses the mechanical energy from the gas turbine to force air
rearwards. Most modern airliners use turbofan engines because of their high thrust and
good fuel efficiency. Turbofans are the most widely used gas turbine engine for air
transport aircraft. The turbofan is a compromise between the good operating efficiency
and high thrust capability of a turboprop and the high speed ,high altitude capability of a
turbojet. Our goal is to recognize the different part of a turbofan engine and to know
working principles of turbofan engine .To achieve our goal, we divided our study in 12
stages. They are Introduction, Classification of Turbofan Engine, Turbofan Engine
Components, Working principle of Turbofan Engine , Body Structure, Major Component, Gas
Turbine Engine Fuel systems, Air Systems, Starting and Ignition, Power Augmentation Systems,
Power Augmentation Systems, Result and Discussion and Conclusion .Before starting our
thesis, we have studied different journals and thesis paper and different books and
technical documents and we have collected information from it (reference) to determine
the parts and working principle of Turbofan Engine. It will be better for us if we have an
