dc.description.abstractBeing a constitutional authority, Election Commission is amongst the few institutions which function with both autonomy and freedom, along with the country's higher judiciary, the Union Public Service Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. It is a permanent constitutional body. Powers of Election Commission (Article 118(4) and 126 of the constitution, read with Article 4 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972): The Election Commission is an independent constitutional body in the exercise of its functions and subject only to the Constitution and any other law. Independent Election Commission and the role of fair and unbiased election in the establishment of good governance are immense. Election is the main criterion for the transparent political environment of a country, but the political environment of many countries of the world like Bangladesh is a threat to the transparent and credible election. This work will be established in Bangladesh by transparency and election and unstable political system. In the initial stage of this work, all the elections and post-independence elections have been highlighted. The main objective of this study is to demonstrate the important aspects of the implementation of various laws in the direction of the Election Commission and the Election Commission to work independently and without any political and official intervention. This work has been attempted to identify and identify the primary elements and main obstacles to conduct independent and independent elections. This study also focused on political challenges in holding credible elections since the country started its democratic journey.en_US
