This executive summary summarizes the critical purposes and values of implementing a
comprehensive system within an organization.
Democracy International (DI) is a well-regarded organization known for its commitment to
excellence in humanitarian aid. Established in Bangladesh for over 20 years, DI began its
operations in the country in 2011. The organization was designed to expand the Democratic
Contribution and Reform Program (DPR) and the USAID Ain Shoyata Activity, which is funded
by USAID and DFID. This program focuses on three key areas:
1. Enhancing public participation, with an emphasis on women and youth development.
2. Improving access to and use of information.
3. Fostering a more approachable political environment.
To strengthen the capacity of political parties to create data-driven policies, DI organized a series
of events aimed at utilizing public opinion research. They helped develop effective voting and
research methods and supported the integration of research findings into policy advance and
communication strategies.
The activities included a related research program that employed focus group discussions,
contributing to regional and national surveys, a research training program, and a media
monitoring portal. Additionally, DI supported its research initiatives with a Computer-Aided
Phone Survey System, the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
