| dc.description.abstract | This internship report is a partial requirement of the Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) program and is based on practical training at Comfort Nursing
Home (Hospital), a reputed healthcare institution in Bangladesh. The internship was
designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, focusing
specifically on accounting practices within a healthcare setting.
The Accounting Department of Comfort Nursing Home, led by the Deputy General
Manager (DGM) of Finance, plays a central role in managing financial operations. Its
responsibilities include accounts payable and receivable, payroll, taxation, financial
reporting, and internal control systems. The hospital follows a hybrid accounting
model, utilizing a custom ERP system for patient services, Tally Prime for accounting
and financial reporting, and manual registers for record summaries. This combination
ensures operational efficiency, data security, and ease of understanding for senior
decision-makers.
During the internship, I actively participated in tasks such as cheque register
management, payroll preparation, transaction tracking, and tax compliance. I also
gained exposure to the preparation of financial reports and internal audits, which
provided practical insights into the application of accounting principles in a serviceoriented
industry.
The report further analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
(SWOT) of Comfort Nursing Home’s accounting practices and identifies areas for
improvement. Key recommendations include strengthening the use of accounting
software, enhancing staff training, and improving digital backup systems to ensure
resilience.
Overall, this internship has been an invaluable opportunity to apply academic learn | en_US |
